Visual Branding Trump Style.  You can see it in CNN’s coverage of the presidential candidate arriving in Cleveland.  Arriving in grand style.

Donald Trump is never one to shy away from a spectacle.

The Republican presidential nominee landed by helicopter not far from the Republican National Convention  ahead of the third night of the convention.

Trump arrived by himself.  His running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, and members of their family arrived at the Cleveland Science Center ahead of Trump.

A group of CNN analysts, most reflecting a Liberal point of view, remarked that this looked like a made-for-media spectacle.  Of course, it was.  Listen to the video accompanying this article.  You’ll hear them admit they took the bait.  How could they resist?  A presidential candidate first arriving in his own plane, then taking a chopper across the city’s skyline.

The visuals communicate the Trump brand — powerful, successful, dynamic.  And you can add your own adjectives.

Visual Branding Trump Style:  Takeaways

  • Determine the best visuals to communicate your message.
  • Review how your competitors employ visuals as part of their integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Look for opportunities to show them in the most meaningful ways.
  • Avoid any visuals that obviously come across as gimmicks which distract from your main message.
  • To be sure, consider small and informal focus groups, getting their reactions to the visuals you want to use.
  • Use visuals true to your brand.  You don’t need to copy others.

Looking to build your brand?  Whether you’re an attorney or managing a medical practice, you need to identify opportunities to bring  your brand’s story to life.
