Persuasive Video that Tells a Joyful Story
How do you squeeze a visually compelling story into a little over a minute? That was our challenge several years ago for the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas/Irving, a suburb of Dallas.
The goal was to immerse viewers into the experience of staying at the resort during a major golf tournament. The pictures alone could tell the story, but we wanted to help viewers experience the joy through a couple staying at the resort.
The Challenge: Finding the Right Couple
Meaning, they could articulate what they liked the most and communicate their enthusiasm on camera. We interviewed several couples to find the right one. Sometimes finding people for testimonials doesn’t work well. This time we believe we did.

- Commit time to find the person or persons who can describe what makes the experience great.
- Pre interview them to be sure.
- Let them be themselves, so they don’t come across as though they’re reciting your “talking points.”
- Illustrate the selling points they make with your best video.
- Cut to the person on camera when they’re most enthusiastic so viewers can appreciate that.
- If you can show the person on camera and what they’re describing, go for it.
- Focus on what makes the story engaging rather than trying to pitch your resort or any experience you’re selling — whether a sports club or pain free dentistry.
